I Now Pronounce You Cheech & Chong
Let’s be honest: most people don’t like attending weddings. It’s a whole lot of money spent on ugly china, wearing uncomfortable clothing, and listening to intimate vows all while pretending you’re not really there for the free food, drinks, and chance you may get laid by a drunk bride’s maid.
Well now, there is even more incentive to truck through the wedding ceremony just to get to the reception. Weed. That’s right, marijuana bars are the newest wedding trend, either adding to or replacing alcohol bars in states like Alaska and Colorado. Thanks to law makers finally admitting that marijuana does not make you go on rage-induced killing sprees or lead to homelessness and prostitution (unless that’s just something you really want to do), recreational marijuana is making its way to a wedding near you.
And let’s be honest, being forced to do the Funky Chicken or Electric Slide is way easier if you’re baked out of your mind.
It’s 2017 and unless you’re out of touch with reality, you probably understand that the worst crime marijuana usually leads to is dipping Funions in Nutella at 2 in the morning while watching Golden Girl marathons. Legislators, pharmaceutical companies -and, well, anyone with half a brain-realize weed poses less problems than its legal counterpart, alcohol.
This is why it probably should have been legal years ago and why our current prisons shouldn’t be filled with marijuana violators. (Unless you tried to sell someone Oregano… Yeah, I’m looking at you Kevin).
However, the real reason the War on Drugs came into fruition may not be what you thought. In a recent Harper Magazine publication of an interview given by former Nixon advisor John Ehrlichman, the cabinet member went on record to explain the real motive behind the “War on Drugs.”
