The Best of Craigslist
Ahhhhh, the world of Craigslist.
I absolutely love everything about this forum in that way a person loves being talked dirty to. You know it’s wrong, but it’s just so much fun. Craigslist epitomizes everything that is so right and yet so wrong with this world. It’s a meeting place of the normal, the abnormal, the dark, the illegal, the odd, the sexual, the lonely, and the innocent. It is a tool utilized to sell a patio set or your soul; a stratosphere of everything this world has to offer, haphazardly placed in an ad on a website that looks like a 7-year-old designed it. Also, there’s the added excitement of knowing you could potentially have to deal with both scammers and pedophiles, so that’s always fun.
In all honesty, with so many apps that target dating, selling, job-listing, and hookups, I’m shocked Craigslist gets as much traffic as it does. I guess it just has this hold on people, sort of like an ex. You know you can do better, but you keep going back for the familiarity and ease.
And sometimes -just sometimes -you come across an ad so funny and bizarre, you remember EXACTLY why you keep coming back. Here are a few of these stories
You don’t need me to tell you there are crazy people in this world. Hell, you might be one of them. Whether we’re talking cat-hoarder-that-only-eats-beets crazy or conspiracy-theorist-who-lives-in-his-van crazy, clearly there are different levels to which we measure and define where others sit on the nutty-scale. Conversely, us relatively normal people have different thresholds for bullshit we’re willing to put up with. The good news is that, throughout our lives, we’re generally able to eliminate or avoid crazy people that disrupt our mental peace. Whether it is a lover, roommate, or friend, we usually have the power to cut contact with those we don’t deem compatible with our lifestyles.
Unfortunately, one of the few places we can’t avoid these people is the workplace. Unless you have the luxury to leave your place of employment every time you don’t like a co-worker, then at some point, you will undoubtedly end up working side-by-side with a person that’s mentally unstable. (Which, incidentally, is one of the reasons I feel so grateful I can work from home. The only level of mental instability I need to put up with is my own.)
Spending day in and day out with someone you dislike really affects your quality of happiness, but usually, it’s manageable. And then there are these co-workers that make your life a living hell.
