“All I can do is be me, whoever that is.” – Bob Dylan
“Serving time” can do three things to a person: it can turn you into a more proficient criminal, make you a shell of a human being, or force a “coming to Jesus” moment in which you choose to turn your life around.
It’s difficult finding accurate stats as to what percentage of inmates choose to do better. However, research has shown prisons that implement programs like bible study and yoga/meditation have seen significant declines in violence and illegal activity within the system.
In California, imprisoned criminals are offered a unique opportunity to take care of one of their own.

We’ve all used them before. Whether for a class project, a presentation, or for articles like this one – stock photos are the first resort for most when they need an image on the fly.
According to Webopedia (a website nobody has ever heard of, so I can’t verify that this quote is accurate), stock photography is “professional photographs of common places, landmarks, nature, events or people that are bought and sold on a royalty-free basis and can be used and reused for commercial design purposes.”
In other words, most of the images you see on blogs, news articles, and advertising are not photos taken for that particular company or purpose. They are usually stock photos that have been photoshopped or altered to convey the message that particular brand is trying to push.
So, the exact same woman you saw sniffing flowers in a Mother’s Day ad may be the same woman you see sniffing coke in an article about drug use.
Ok, that would take some pretty extensive photoshop skills, but you get the gist. Spend enough time browsing the interweb and you’re bound to see the same image surface in different forums.
To most of us, these photos of people are just photos. We forget these people are… well… ACTUAL PEOPLE… and they have a lot to say about the odd world of stock photography modeling.
