While Tony Hawk didn’t invent skateboarding (nor was he part of the Lords of Dogtown crew… saaaaaaad), he certainly was a pioneer in legitimizing what was seen for years as a “punk-like hobby.” Hawk arguably was the man that really brought skateboarding to the mainstream and he did it by blending unrivaled footwork with fresh and artful tricks.
Now that he’s broaching his 50’s, he’s all but slid into the world of obscurity and oblivion, but he has maintained his awesome sense of humor.
