Platforms like Facebook and Instagram were originally intended to share information, videos, and photos. While those uses still remain true today, applications like the reaction buttons have made people obsessed with how many “likes” and “followers” they get, turning it into a game of popularity, not quality information.
When Instagram conducted a beta-test to see what would happen when they dismantled the number of likes seen by an audience, people… LOST… THEIR… MINDS.
