Getting Down

Our society has become so obsessed with beauty and buying products in order to ensure that beauty, we almost forget that imperfection exists all around us.

Thanks to filters and photoshop, even the most imperfect among us can be “fixed”, creating a pretty skewed world in which everyone is damn near perfect looking and nothing is as it seems.

Enter Surf Style – a beachwear line of clothing and swimming gear that recently signed a model with Down Syndrome. While we have a long way toward being a society that accentuates and beautifies flaws, this certainly is a great start.

The Golden Years

There are certain stadiums throughout the U.S. whose culture is so intertwined with the name that changing that name seems almost sacrilegious. For example, can you imagine Wrigley or Soldier Field being called anything but?

Mile High Stadium in Denver, Colorado is no different. It’s a great name that works on multiple levels, making it one of the best-named stadiums in America.

But after years of being referred to as Mile High, The Broncos home base will now be called “Empower Field” which might not sound so dumb if it wasn’t named after a retirement home.

Look, I get it. The Broncos have sucked ever since Payton Manning left and maybe the entire team SHOULD retire, but HOW this new name got approved is beyond me.

Here are the depressing details.
