The praise that comes from love does not make us vain, but more humble. –
James M. Barrie
Take a moment to imagine being on a flight and listening to the airline pilot having a meltdown over the intercom moments before the flight takes off. It’s enough to make anyone lose their trust or faith in the ability of the pilot who is supposed to have their safety in his or her hands.
In this video, you will see a pilot showing up moments before her flight was to depart and then getting on the plane’s intercom to complain about how it shouldn’t be necessary that she fly the plane in official clothing. She then asks the passengers if they would mind if she flew the plane in her civilian clothing, and if they said no, she then went on to call them ignorant and small minded. She goes on for several minutes–insulting passengers in the interim–until many of the passengers began to leave the flight. Needless to say, the pilot was escorted off of the plane and the flight finally took off over two hours later.
This is the type of thing that should shake anyone into a certain reality. We tend to forget that pilots, doctors, and other professionals who tend to have our lives in the palm of their hands, are human beings who are at risk of having mental meltdowns at the most inappropriate time. It would be horrible for a doctor to have a meltdown right in the middle of his performing surgery on a patient. We always assume that professionals have the ability to push their own problems aside for the sake of getting the job done. When this doesn’t happen, it can be a bit frightening.
We have all seen the crazy people who talk to themselves, start fights with invisible people, and who do some of the weirdest things in public. When we see people like this, we normally just look away and write them off as being insane in the membrane. We never stop to wonder what made them the way that they were. True, some of them are mentally challenged, but not all of them. There was something that occurred in their lives that might have caused them to snap. It’s a pity that we don’t realize that before we judge them.
In this video, we have a perfect example of a woman that just doesn’t seem to have all her marbles. She’s sitting on a long bench on the train and refuses to allow anyone to sit next to her. She even spreads her legs so that people know that they are not welcomed. She’s willing to fight, yell and scream at anyone who decides that they are willing to ignore her and sit down anyway. Crowded train? Doesn’t matter to her. You can’t sit there! Pregnant woman? Doesn’t matter. You’d better move!
