House Representatives Behaving Badly
Ok, so House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rips up her copy of President Trump’s State of the Union address the moment he completed his speech to show her disdain. This is all fine and dandy, but what type of message did it send to the public? Is this to say that even representatives in the House can’t respect the freedom of speech from others?
Political figures have proven time and time again that they lack what it takes to be professional and respectful. They can’t respect one another because they can’t agree with one another’s points of view, which is sad considering these are the people in office who are supposed to help protect our rights to speak freely…even if it’s unpopular.
The examples, or rather lack thereof, that are set by those in office is not only deplorable, but they are idiotic in many regards. It’s become a situation where we are watching the State of the Union address because we are waiting to see what bozo thing will happen next. People are losing faith in our representatives because we are witnessing them at their very worst.
It’s understandable that public figures will have their personal disagreements with one another. It is also understandable that politicians will argue with one another about policies that fail to be in line with their own agendas. What’s not understandable, and what fails to make sense, is how politicians act publicly when they fail to agree with another’s point of view. Where is the decorum? Where is the self-restraint? Apparently, it doesn’t exist.
Take a look at Pelosi’s reaction in this video and tell us if you think she was justified in her actions. We’d love to hear your point of view on this one.
JLo and Shakira were the talk of the Super Bowl halftime show recently when they both shimmied and humped their way across the stage for all the world to see. JLo even displayed her skills on a stripper pole–which, to be honest, were pretty impressive.
The only problem is that many folks didn’t find their performance to be in the best of taste. People complained that both women failed to keep in mind that children were watching. Oookaay…
Some of these parents who complain about these skanky celebrities are the same parents who allow their children to watch Disney movies that are filled with sexual innuendos! The Lion King, and most of the cartoons by Disney, continue to promote females as helpless, sex idols who are in need of a strong man.
True, there are some characters that show independence and strength, but not many. You don’t see parents lining up to complain about cartoons or movies for children that push hidden agendas, do you? No, you don’t.
Don’t get us wrong, here. We are not saying that it’s acceptable for men or women to shake their bums on national television during a program that includes children viewers. However, the reality is that most parents have a responsibility to be the protection that their children need. Rather than allowing their children to sit in front of the television during JLo’s pole dance, the parents could have simply changed the channel and then returned once the game started again. Too bad that the parents found it easier to complain than to simply take action.
If you missed the performance of the two women, don’t despair. We have the video right here…just make sure that your kids are not in the room.
